Hey I'm Faris and I'm new to this website. I've been a "Riot Boy" since 1995 and have never strayed. It was 1995 and I was just another confused teenager looking for a place to belong. I happened to come across a band named Bikini Kill, listened to "The CD version of the first Two Records", and completely fell head over heels for Bikini Kill, Kathleen Hanna, and pretty much anything related to the Riot Grrrl movement at the time. Unfortunately, as a 14 year old boy going through puberty I guess…

I am trying to put together the ninth issue of my zine (Fallopian Falafel) and the focus is on pregnency and abortion.
Since my call for submissions last week, I received about a dozen submissions that are all pro-life.
People are clearly not getting that my zine is a feminist one, so I turn to the Riot Grrrls and Boyz of this site for help:
Do any of you have any poetry, articles, stories, rants, art, comics, anything you would like to contribute to my zine on your pro-choice ideas?
For brainst…

I was trying to find some internet radio station that either played riotgrrl exculsively, or at least included it. I'm not surprised at how few radio stations actually play Bikini Kill. Finally I stumbled onto this website that was called Women Rock radio (www.womenrockradio.com), and started listening to it. They may not play riot all the time, but they do throw it into the mix every now and then. They play alot of stuff that's never been heard of, or is really obscure. If you get the chance, g…

ALBUM INTERVIEW in CMU DAILY- on the inside
WE ROCK LIKE GIRLS DON`T
Female duo We Rock Like Girls Don`t have quite a self explanatory name, which is handy. Glaswegian guitarist/vocalist Ros Cairney recruited Greek drummer Vas Antoniadou through Loot, and after a period of what one might call `musical differences`, the pair are firmly together in their current incarnation, wowing all the right people.
The girls are now ready to unleash their debut album `How Did It Get To This` - available to…

Blue eyes bright
Love nature’s light
Sing words of whim
Pain in every limb
Conquer world’s bound
Twist dove’s crown
Angel’s mystic words of wisdom
Time to take the travel piston
More than a friend
Less than a lover
Tends to disguise
What I want to uncover
Craving’s wings bat
Licks, unwanted pouts
Time is still at last
Time’s unworldly doubts

time stands still
trees blow, bloom
i stand here
this empty room
my heart shattered
broken, torn
my mind lost
weathered and worn
loves blissful moments
pass with each day
rip apart the soul
conquer, decay
soul anew heart reborn
towers built, skies scorned. Continue

Untitled #37 – Just Imagine
Living a life that's unknown to me
harries my head, threads thought, squares spine.
The vines in my hand soon become spine
An itch in my throat, up comes a bee.
I walk a ways and come to a tree.
A much needed rest is soon what I find.
With closed eyes I see bugs on my mind;
Technicolor turtles offer me tea.
There in the woods, I can see my wife.
Shouting at me to do what I'm told;
Graveyards need checking before they are sold.
Windex in hand I run w…

For me there are not particularly any "guidlines" or 'specifications" for defending women who have been treated inequitably. I have noticed recently, however, that many feminists seem to pick and choose which victims of sexism to defend. To me this is a bit nonsensical. Any woman that has been exploited, be it media, or any other contributing factor should be represented equally by feminists. If women are to recognize any type of unfair treatment occuring to two of the same women, why is it that…

Anyone out there who has ideas for possible masters dissertation topics in the field of training and human resource management, please send me possible areas of research.

Why do people just flat out lie? I just don't get it. I mean I only lie when it's completely necessary, though I hate ever having to.
Heres the story.
My band Kill Gidget was going to throw a party at my house, while my dad was away on a business trip. We were going to have two other local bands along with us. Charissa and I got to talking and we decided to cancel on the bands because we didn't want the cops to get called. Reasonable. So Charissa called Rachele, and I called Ronda. Then we got…

I don’t know how I should go about introducing myself - I’ve recently started a blog over at
GuitarZero.org where myself and my compadres have begun a crusade to bring you the finest in underrated, unknown and underground music, both local and offshore. A few worth mentioning are; Riff Random, Nunchukka Superfly, The Hard Ons, Ghosts Of Television, Day of the Meerkat, Coda and The Church. These bands have inspired me and have reminded me that Australia’s music…
