Noone outside my own family (and hell, I'm not even sure half of them care) knows that I was very interested in this group when they first came out. I was in a leg cast after being hit by a car while riding my bicycle. I had alot of time on my hand so I spent most of it trying to find female or female-lead groups/artists. I came across Betty and was immediately smitten with their sound. I wrote an email to their record co., and was surprised to actually hear back from them. I told them about my acciident, and they sent me an autographed picture of the group. It was awesome, and yes, I still have that framed photo safely put away. I was so impressed with the record co, I emailed them asking if the formation of a fan club would be possible. One of the execs called me, and we spoke about it several times. I received promo material, including rare pillow cases. Eventually, I didn't have enough experience to start a club, and the exec wasn't sure about it either, so we put it on hold for awhile. Sadly, Bianca was killed in an auto accident, and the group broke up and went their seperate ways. I never heard back from the record co. They made a movie chronciling the band, but as far as I know (I haven't seen it yet), I wasn't included in it. (Otherwise you'd think I remember seeing a film crew at my house). I'm very proud to have been at least thought of by the band, because the drummer and I used to IM each other and b.s. for awhile. Haven't heard from her, but as far as I know, she's playing in a Ca. band called Cheap Chick. Damn, I miss this band!

These ladies could really rock! One of the best (hard) rock bands from L.A. Whether you dig hard rock or you're more into riot-grrrl-related stuff, Betty Blowtorch has been one of the top bands ... they sure HAD AN IMPACT!

This is the tragic tale of a band, cut tragically short by the death of their lead singer. A while ago ('bout 9 years) I began searching for all-female bands, any genre. It was interesting to see how many there really are,and only a few are semi-well known. I found Betty Blowtorch, and became fascinated by their range of songs. Whether it's a hard-rockin, 'in your face', pure rock song ("Rock n' Roll 69"), or a sweet(?) ballad ("I'm Ugly and I Don't Know Why"), Betty delivers on every song.
