I'm neil and am pretty new to this website or, in fact, any website. I was just wondering if there are any grrrlish/feminist movies that you can talk a bit about and rcommend. I'll start by mentioning the filmmaker Rainer Werner Fassbinder. He was a gay German filmmaker who made several movies about (and for) women. Some titles are The Marriage of Maria Braun, Effi Brest, Lola, and Veronica Voss. to name a few. Anyway if there are film(s) you want to recommend please tell us.
It's not actually a movie but there's a documentary called The Herstory Of Riot Grrrl, I haven't seen it but I've been trying to get my hands on it for ages.
Funny, I bought The Herstory of Riot Grrrl about a month ago and I still haven't watched it!
I think I'm a little afraid it will be awful.
You can get it on amazon.com
Better yet if you have a local music/video store I think you can order it through them.
That's how I got mine.

There's also a movie called "Girls Rock! The Movie"... it's not ABOUT riot grrrl, but it is related and it looks REALLY amazing. I've always wanted to see it!
Here's the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dbx5PM8jH3w
A doco called 'Don't Need You' which was released in 2006 I think, I recently picked up a copy but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. There's also a film called 'Down and Out with the Dolls' which is a feature about an all=girl band, not strictly riot grrrl but interesting. Another couple of movies I would suggest (though they pre-date riot grrrl per se they sum a certain 'girl culture' vibe - 'out of the Blue', 'Times Square' and 'Foxes'.

Ooops! I think i let my ignorance show. When i started this discussion i should have said grrrl or feminist movies. I don't know any grrrl movies except what i read on this forum. The movies i mentioned are just good films about interesting women.
